Thumping sound often means a tire
coming apart or poor wheel balance

Sidewall bruises from scraping
against a curb or other object may indicate
tire damage

- Rattling (usually caused by loose brackets, loose heat shields or missing bolts)

- "jumping" into gear once drive is engaged
- hesitation or inability of
transmission to engage next gear as speed increases
